Eligibility

Child Welfare Trainer Certification candidates must be referred by an agency charged with responsibility for conducting child protective investigations and/or case management services or by an entity under contract to provide pre-service training for such agencies. The referring agency/entity will assume responsibility for necessary screening and confirmation of requisite eligibility requirements.

To be eligible for Child Welfare Trainer Certification candidate must:

Have been previously certified as a Child Welfare Trainer in the State of Florida

OR:

If candidate has not been previously certified as a Child Welfare Trainer in Florida, candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have passed the Child Welfare Pre-service Training Post-test with a score of 80% or better.
  • Must have two years of child protection experience.
  • Must take the following train-the-trainer courses:

Trainer Tools and Techniques: This is a three-day trainer skills course that includes: adult learning principals and learning styles; presentation skills and group facilitation; preparation of materials and use of visuals; effective use of questions; cultural competence; and, creating safe learning environments.

Pre-service Curriculum Overview: This is a five-day course in which trainer candidates will: review current pre-service curriculum and materials; practice delivery of a portion of the curriculum and receive feedback; be given an overview of Skillnet functionality, test administration, and proctoring; and, design a Trainer Professional Development Plan.
