Eligibility
Supervising for Excellence Trainer Certification candidates must be referred by an agency charged with responsibility for conducting child protective investigations and/or case management services or by an entity under contract to provide pre-service training for such agencies. The referring agency/entity will assume responsibility for necessary screening and confirmation of requisite eligibility requirements.
To be eligible for Supervising for Excellence (SFE) Trainer Certification:
- Every trainer of the SFE curriculum shall be certified by the Academy, and shall have at least one year of prior child welfare supervisory experience.
- The Department may approve other supervisory training curricula, which shall, at a minimum, contain the same elements trained in SFE. Along with the training curriculum, the trainer’s credentials must be submitted to the Department. The trainer shall have been approved to train the substitute curriculum by the curriculum development agency and have at least one year of prior child welfare supervisory experience. Please submit substitute curriculum requests and trainer credentials to Taffy_B_Compain@dcf.state.fl.us
- At the discretion of the Academy, any trainer certified to train a supervisory training program by any entity other than the Academy, who has the requisite prior supervisory experience, may submit documentation attesting to his or her credentials to the Academy for review and consideration of the request for certification to train the SFE curriculum.
- Trainers of SFE that were issued a Certificate of Completion during the 2006 SFE Train the Trainer Pilot in Orlando, Florida may submit a copy of said certificate to the Academy for certification to train the SFE curriculum.
- These qualifications do not preclude an agency from contracting with a credentialed expert trainer to train some portion of SFE, or other Department approved curriculum, provided that a certified SFE trainer is present.
